On February 10, 2026, the Los Angeles County Taxpayers Association, joined by a broad coalition of mayors, councilmembers, and former local officials, formally opposes the proposed countywide 0.5% general sales tax increase scheduled for consideration by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
This proposal would raise the cost of groceries, dining, and everyday goods for millions of residents—without clear spending guarantees, accountability measures, or legally binding oversight. At a time of persistent inflation and already high sales tax rates, working families and small businesses cannot afford another open-ended tax increase.
Local elected officials across Los Angeles County have come together to urge the Board not to place this measure on the June 2026 ballot and to reject any tax increase that lacks transparency, fiscal controls, and voter protections.
