The Los Angeles County Taxpayers Association (LATax) strongly opposes the eviction defense proposal currently being considered by the LA City Council. This misguided initiative would place an undue burden on property owners and taxpayers while failing to address the root causes of housing affordability issues in our city.
Chairman Aidan Chao expressed his concerns, stating, “This proposal is yet another example of well-intentioned but misguided policy that will ultimately harm the very people it aims to help. By increasing costs for property owners, we risk reducing the overall housing supply and driving up rents for all Angelenos.”
LATax has been mobilizing our coalition to attend public hearings and voice their opposition, as well as promoting a public awareness campaign to educate residents about the true costs of this proposal.
We urge the LA City Council to reject this eviction defense proposal and instead focus on solutions that will increase housing supply and improve affordability without placing additional burdens on property owners and taxpayers.
LATax calls upon all concerned citizens to contact their City Council representatives and express their opposition to this harmful proposal.
