Los Angeles County Taxpayers Association Urges Governor to Reject ACA 1 and ACA 13

The Los Angeles County Taxpayers Association (LATax) is deeply disappointed with the recent passage of ACA 1 and ACA 13 by the California Legislature. These bills pose a significant threat to Proposition 13 and create a worrisome path toward easier tax increases.

Proposition 13 has long been a crucial safeguard for taxpayers, ensuring that property taxes remain predictable and reasonable. ACA 1 and ACA 13, however, undermine these protections, putting an even heavier burden on the hardworking families of Los Angeles County and throughout California.

Chairman Aidan Chao, in expressing his disappointment, stated, “The passage of ACA 1 and ACA 13 is a setback for working families who are already grappling with the high cost of living in our state. These bills will make it even more challenging for them to make ends meet.”

LATax urges Governor Gavin Newsom to carefully consider the implications of ACA 1 and ACA 13 and refrain from signing these bills into law. Protecting the affordability of living in California should remain a top priority for our state government, and these bills move us in the wrong direction.

We call upon Governor Newsom to stand with the taxpayers of Los Angeles County and across California by vetoing ACA 1 and ACA 13.
