I am proud to lead the Los Angeles County Taxpayers Association in joining yet another significant coalition of pro-business leaders, the Alliance for Economic Fairness, with the mission of influencing Los Angeles to pursue a more sustainable future for the city.
While special interests like Tourism Workers Rising support the deeply irresponsible $30 Wage Ordinance, mandating that small business owners in the hospitality industry raise wages by 66% would exasperate the city’s already-critical economic crisis in a critical post-COVID transitory period. Continuing to over-regulate businesses would cripple an already-vulnerable industry, and threaten millions in important tax revenue and cause a loss of thousands of jobs, per analysis done by Oxford Economics. With 49% of businesses in LA being minority-owned, this ordinance would roll back many of the advances these communities have made in furthering their representation and quality of life through their entrepreneurial success.
In the interest of continuing LA’s post-COVID recovery and shaping our future to be one of growth, not stagnation, we are proud to build this coalition with our minority-owned business partners, partners in the commercial real estate and infrastructure spaces, and local chambers of commerces all over the Los Angeles Region.
LATax’s partners on this will include, among many others:
- Building Owners and Managers Association Greater Los Angeles
- Crenshaw Chamber of Commerce
- La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce
- Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce • South Gate Chamber of Commerce
- Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce
- Warner Center Association
- West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce
- Westside Council of Chambers of Commerce
- Asian Industry B2B
- California Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce
LATax’s mission is to build bridges between business and politics, to forge a path forward that provides opportunities and success for all. We are proud to join forces with the Alliance to achieve our shared vision.
